Eyes4Everest was formed by Behavioural Optometrist Shaun Chang after he learned that some children were having difficulties seeing the Board. Each year a team of optometrists trek to the Everest (Solukhumbu) region of Nepal to provide primary eyecare and training to the hospital staff. Patients requiring spectacles or topical medication are provided them free of charge. Our ultimate aim is to train a Sherpa to run the eye clinic we established.
The Everest region inspired Shaun to develop the first Behavioural Optometry App ‘Buffalo and Nak’ - a children storybook that introduces the concepts of Behavioural Optometry. Parents can then use the App to contact their local Behavioural Optometrist. By listing yourself on the App, kids in need can reach you and all proceeds will go towards the continual work of Eyes4Everest.
